What is a Fluid Drive?
The basic fluid drive concept utilizes hydrokenetic principles to transmit power. Oil particles are accelerated by the driving impeller and are then decelerated as they impinge on the blades of the runner. The impeller is connected to a motor and the runner is connected to the driven object such as a fan shaft. In variable speed units, the mass of the working fluid can be changed while the machine is operating and infinitely variable output speed is achieved.
What Does This Imply?
Prolongs Equipment Life
- Permits no-load starting
- Absorbs shocks and torsional vibration
- Reduces maintenance, wear and noise
- allows soft starts which save the equipment and motor
- Energy efficient
- Offers reliability because the only moving parts are bearings
Controlled Acceleration & infinite variable speed control
- Acceleration is controlled by the amount of lubricant given to the machine
- True step-less speed adjustment due to oil properties
- Serves to disconnect the load from the driver
